Animation

Welcome to Atom Town, a colourful community of characters based on the Elements of the Periodic Table.

I worked with Turnip & Duck in the early development process in the writers room, returning to the team when the series was in production to pitch and write episodes.

Space Chickens in Space follows Chuck, Finley and Starley; three hapless chicken siblings trying to fit in and prove they have the talent and tenacity to cut it with the best Galactic Academy recruits.

I wrote episodes of Disney’s surreal children’s sci-fi comedy, and was nominated in the “Best Writer for an Animated Series” category at the Irish Animation Awards for Alpha Chuck.

I joined Turnip & Duck again to work in the writers room development their fantasy/comedy series Beyond the Leap, this time with the guidance of Tony Gama-Lobo (past showrunner of King of The Hill and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). I focused in particular on world-building and how that shaped the in-progress narrative.

Rory, a tough-as-nails 10-year-old motormouth, and his deeply emotional rubber-badger buddy, Booch, navigate the absurd, hilarious, and often character-forging trials of a high-stakes video game they don’t know they’re in.

I worked in the writers room with Revelator to build out the world and in-progress narrative for their sci-fi/buddy comedy series Bro Quest, as well as worked on drafts of the pilot script with Wayne and Andrew (by whose powers combined, Revelator is formed) and script editor Alan Keane.

“Mike is that rarest of things. He’s a writer that’s so good you’ll be convincing yourself you’ve discovered him. He’s got it all. Great dialogue, visual writing and a natural funny bone. Couple that with great concepts and ideas and being a real asset in the room. We will be working with Mike again on a number of things while we can still afford him…”
