About Mike
I live in rural Ireland with my partner and my son, and with the rest of you here on the internet.
When left to my own devices I tend to write about outsiders. Characters who wear masks (mostly metaphorical, sometimes literal), trying to find their way within their families and communities, grappling with mortality and meaning. I engage with these themes using the fantastical tools of the supernatural, fantasy, and science fiction genres, usually with a strong dose of humour (depending on the patient’s needs).
I offer that expertise as a games writer, narrative designer, and screenwriter.
I graduated from Ireland’s National Film School with The Award for Academic Excellence before going on to work in a variety of media.
I’m also a trained Content Designer through the UX Design Institute via Glasgow Caledonian University, honing my ability with language to work in UI and microcopy to serve clients and cultures beyond the entertainment industry.
I'm represented by Jean Kitson of Kitson Press Associates.

““Mike somehow has figured out how to be an obsessive writing genius, while being a fun person to hang around. That’s a rare combo ... Mike is a master at writing scripts that are fun to read, no matter what the genre. Isn’t that the whole point, to be entertaining.” ”
